Accommodations

The RSVP 2012 conference will be held at the A T & T Conference Center, 1900 University Avenue, Austin, Texas 78705. A block of 30 rooms will be available at our group rate of $169 (or the "prevailing UT rate") until August 23, 2012. Rooms at the Conference Center may be available after that date, but prices are not guaranteed. Parking is available onsite for $14 per day for self-park and $21 per day for valet parking. Click here if you would like to make reservations at the conference hotel: https://resweb.passkey.com/Resweb.do?mode=welcome_gi_new&groupID=4238156

Another block of 30 rooms is available for RSVP members for $112.50 (plus tax) at the La Quinta Inn Austin Capitol, 300 East 11th Street, until August 23, 2012. It's about a 15-minute walk from the conference (12 blocks by foot). La Quinta is a moderately priced, consistently clean hotel with free wifi and continental breakfast. More information about the hotel is available at www.lq.com. However, conference registrations are not available online. You will need to phone (512) 476-1166 and ask for the RSVP 2012 rate. If you live abroad and would like to make reservations at the La Quinta without an international call, we will be happy to make the arrangements for you. Email KLedbetter@txstate.edu for help. Note: valet parking is the only available parking option at this hotel. The charge for this service is $12.99 per vehicle per night.

Austin is a major tourist destination. You will find a variety of accommodations all over the city if you don’t mind driving, although parking near the university is difficult. Recent upgrades to street meters now enforce weekend rates.

Cheaper hotel chains (Super 8, etc.) are near the university area, but anything east of I-35 can be dangerous.
All the locations listed here are within walking distance, depending on your tolerance for walking and the weather. It can be hot in September (85-95 degrees F), but the evenings cool down nicely. You may find the biggest Texas climate problem to be air conditioning. Bring a jacket or sweater for indoors.
